- Maximum of 40 components per firing piece.
- Maximum of 360 component overall used for main guns
- 360 / 40 = 9

with british =

- Maximum of 45 components per firing piece.
- Maximum of 405 component overall used for main guns
- 405 / 45 = 9

How do you get 10 full 45 guns heh ? Or do you mean 10 full 40 comp guns

Oops, that was so long ago.
It's 40 comps. And 41 for 4 guns, if I really did it

I think you guys are forgetting the respective advantages of direct feed and redundancy. With 12 guns the component count allowed me to have nice long barrels as well as get the cooling almost exactly to the fire rate allowed by having direct input guns with 4 inputs, all while keeping my guns non-volatile and highly redundant. And honestly, the fastest reasonably achievable fire rate at 500mm with 45 components would be about 14s per shell, and direct feed gets you 20, so it's not a bad trade. I agree that a good autoloading 12 gun non-british ship would be just about impossible though, unless loading ludicrously slow shells like Harnas's own entry.
