Simple question - Kohl Armata - 2016-06-16

Why, oh why do many vehicles go at 40 + m/s... and what hacks are you lot using to make them NOT flip over? I've found that tanks that I built can BARELY not flip at 20 m/s... when having the ENTIRE bottom built from solid lead...

RE: Simple question - SirAres - 2016-06-16

Ummmm i can share some of my tanks, not most effective but fast and wont flip. (about 50-60m/s speed)

Maybe your tanks are to high compared to their wide.

@SirAres Love the tanks. Smile

@Kohl Armata Could you show us pictures of your vehicles please?

RE: Simple question - BaronBaconeer - 2016-06-16

Most of the designs have a rather low profile and CoM accompanied by wide tracks (as do the ones posted by SirAres), making them hard to tip over. Other, smaller designs often employ active stabilization such as dediblades and jets to keep them upright. Hovercrafts often stabilize themselves by the same mechanisms that keep them aloft.

If you post the BPs of your designs it's far easier to point out where the problem is.

I usually use Jets/ions for smaller vehicles, Wide tracks helped with bigger ones.
...
example such as this CV33 Tankette.

i placed a downward jet on the middle top on each sides , using "main" settings, so it will force the tank down when it want to flip over.

Exactly this when using thrusters for steering.
Or wide vehicles with low CoM. For hovercrafts, if using Land or Naval AI, add an extra GP Pid with some thrusters set for roll/pitch if needed.

btw. lovely tankette

I wonder when Nick will implent that wheels will stick to the ground

It looks comedical how tons heavy tank flips on the side when doing a turn
I countered it by having wider tank or by limiting the turning wheel to 0.1 or 0.2 so it does turn, but slowly
